Current Activity Profile -- Stéphane Blanc

Our laboratory examines the impact of the mechanisms of virus-vector interaction on the evolution of viral populations. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to study viral populations and their evolution. Specifically, our laboratory focuses on the following:
  • Molecular and cellular mechanisms of virus-vector interaction.
  • Virus-host plant interactions that prepare and optimize the future uptake of the virus by the vector.
  • Demographic fluctuations of viral popopulation during the virus life cycle in plant and in vectors. This includes study at the cellular level (multiplicity of cellular infection) in the plant.
  • Genetics of adaptation to new hosts--an experimental evolution project with CaMV.
  • Recombination of Begomoviruses, including the putative role of the vector in virus recombination with Tomato yellow leaf curl virus, TYLCV.
