PVEN Workshops

The International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) has joined with PVEN to sponsor the second workshop of PVEN at their campus in Ca' Tron di Roncade, Italy (near Venice) from 21 April (PM) to 23 April (PM) 2009. Topics

• Plant virus ecology: Examining interactions between viruses and plants in complex ecological contexts
• Evaluating differences in host-virus relationships among natural and agricultural ecosystems
• Agriculture as a source of virus pressure on wild plants
• Viruses as drivers of ecosystem change
• Reciprocal influences of plant and virus biodiversity
• Effects of global change on virus dispersal and evolution
• Questions, objectives and infrastructure of the field
• Further suggestions for topics needing covering are welcome.

The first annual PVEN Workshop was held at the Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, USA from 19 to 21 March, 2008.

The 2010 Workshop will be held in conjunction with the International Plant Virus Epidemiology Symposium to be held at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York June 20-24, 2010.

Proposals for the next workshop (2011) are welcome.
